We have pretty much emptied out my Father-in-law?s condo and are ready for the closing next week. My husband and his siblings have managed to find homes for just about everything. Walking through the now-empty condo is a bit unsettling. All his worldly possessions, and also those of his two wives, are now gone. Gone to family or friends, but still gone. One of the pieces we inherited is this antique marble top dresser.
I don?t know much about it. ?In their big home that we sold several years ago, it sat in an upstairs hallway and held linens. In the condo it resided in a guest room.
Just when I thought I had my living room situated, this dresser was delivered and everything was moved around. The sofa went back on the window wall to make room for the dresser.
The hardware is intriguing. Each drawer has a lock with the key still inserted. All four original keys are there?and all the locks work.
It is need of some tender loving care. Some of the nails are missing from the handles.
It?s a bit scratched up and some pieces of the molding have come off. I have them though, so all I need to do is glue them back on.
I gathered up some small pitchers and a tray for on top of the marble. I didn?t realize until I had them all together that there were this many. I have to admit that just looking at it makes me happy.
I ordered some Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint from Robyn Story Designs. My friend (and I sponsor her blog) Kim, at Savvy Southern Style?just posted about the milk paint today. Robyn Story is her stockist. I, of course, ordered Mustard Seed Yellow. Honestly, I am scared to death to tackle this project. Shaking in my boots as a matter of fact!
The paint will ship by the end of the month so when I?ve attempted this transformation I?ll be back to tell you all about it. That is if I?m still standing.
We also got this little round table. I think it?s adorable. What do you think?should I paint this too?
